Introduction

ToMe is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your data is handled when you use our application.

Your content remains on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to your notes, links, photos, files, voice memos, or locations.

Your data stays with you

What you create in ToMe

  • Content: text notes, links, photos, files, voice memos, and locations you save in ToMe
  • Organization: names, icons, and colors for your spaces and sections
  • Reminders: dates and times you set for your content

All of this data is created and controlled by you, and remains on your devices and in your personal iCloud account.

Where your data is stored

Local storage (on your device)

  • All your data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData
  • Your content, spaces, and settings remain on your device
  • We have no access to your data whatsoever

iCloud sync (your personal iCloud)

  • If enabled, your data syncs across your devices via your personal Apple iCloud account
  • This data goes directly to your iCloud, not to any servers we operate
  • We have no access to your iCloud data
  • Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy governs iCloud storage

Shared spaces (CloudKit collaboration)

  • If you use Shared Spaces, the data within that space is shared with the participants you invite via Apple CloudKit
  • Shared data is transmitted through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure, not through our servers
  • Only the owner and invited participants can access the shared space
  • We have no access to shared space data

How the app works with your data

The app uses your data locally on your device to:

  • Display and organize your saved content
  • Send local notifications for reminders you set
  • Index your content in Spotlight for system-wide search (on-device only)
  • Protect sensitive spaces with Face ID or Touch ID (biometric data is handled entirely by Apple and never leaves your device)
  • Provide app functionality

On-device AI features (Pro)

ToMe offers optional AI features (Smart Tags, Smart Summaries) that run entirely on your device using Apple's Foundation Models framework. Your content is processed locally and is never sent to external servers for AI processing.

Analytics

We collect anonymous usage analytics through PostHog to understand how the app is used and improve the experience. This data includes:

  • Anonymous identifier: a randomly generated ID not tied to your Apple ID or personal identity
  • App usage events: such as app install, content saves (type only, never the content itself), and retention milestones
  • Device context: app version, platform (iOS/macOS), device class (iPhone/iPad/Mac), locale, and country
  • Subscription status: whether you are a free or Pro user

What we never collect

  • Your content (text, URLs, filenames, transcripts, photos)
  • Your Apple ID or personal identity
  • Your browsing activity outside the app
  • Screen recordings or session replays

Analytics are used solely to improve the app experience and are not sold or shared with advertisers.

Third-party services

Link previews

When you save a link, the app fetches metadata (title, description, image) from the URL to create previews. This request is made directly from your device to the website. We are not involved in this process.

RevenueCat (subscription management)

We use RevenueCat for subscription management. RevenueCat may collect anonymous purchase data to process transactions. See their privacy policy for details.

PostHog (analytics)

We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics as described in the Analytics section above. See their privacy policy for details.

Share extension

The ToMe Share Extension lets you save content from other apps. This data goes directly to your device's local storage and is not transmitted to any external servers.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access all your data within the app
  • Delete individual items or entire spaces
  • Disable iCloud sync at any time
  • Leave or remove yourself from shared spaces

Data security

  • Your data is stored locally and is as secure as your device
  • iCloud data is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest
  • Shared space data is protected by Apple's CloudKit security
  • Biometric authentication is handled by Apple's Secure Enclave
  • We cannot access, view, or recover your data

Children's privacy

ToMe does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for general audiences.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy and updating the “Last updated” date.

California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The only data we collect is anonymous analytics as described above, which is not linked to your personal identity. We do not sell personal information.
