Shared spaces
Some things are better kept together. Shared spaces let people you invite add to the same space over iCloud, from their own device and their own iCloud account.
Share a space
Invite people and set what each can do.
- Open a space → Share in the toolbar.
- Invite people and send the link.
- Set each person to Read-Write or Read-Only.
Accept an invitation
Join a shared space from an invite link.
- Tap the invite link.
- The space appears in your list with the owner's name.
Permissions
Owners control everything; members manage their own items.
- Owner: create, edit and delete anything, manage sections and access.
- Member (Read-Write): add items, edit and delete their own.
- Member (Read-Only): view only.
Manage & stop sharing
Change access, stop sharing, or leave a space — and everything syncs both ways.
- Owner: change a member to Read-Only or Stop Sharing from the share screen.
- Member: Leave a space from its settings; your copy becomes local.
Shared space notifications
Get notified when collaborators change a shared space.
- Settings → Notifications → Shared Space Notifications.
- Background sync is always on; this toggles the visible alerts.
Common questions
What does someone need to join a space I share?
ToMe on their own device and an iCloud account. The owner sets each person to read-write or read-only when they invite them.
Is sharing private?
Yes. Shared spaces sync through iCloud, and only the people you invite can access them. The owner controls each participant's permission.
